The days before we leave are busy with many details and admittingly
at times, I’ve allowed myself to become a bit overwhelmed with everything that
needs to be done and with the huge need that we will face as we meet our new Haitian
friends who have faced so much disaster in the last few years. In
addition to the earthquake, there have been hurricanes that have flooded lands
and destroyed much needed crops leaving the country with an extreme shortage of
food. What food is imported is very
costly and would cost the average family two days wages for one days food
supply.
As I stand outside watching the tiny snowflakes fall to the
ground, God reminds me to rest in His peace; knowing that He is able to provide
all that is needed. Philippians 4:19 - And my God will
meet all your needs according to the riches of his glory in Christ Jesus.
Each snowflake is light and small as it slowly drifts back
and forth until it rest on the ground; then another and another, until I notice
that together each of these tiny flakes has covered the ground in a blanket of
white. I can only imagine how many
snowflakes there actually are and each although independent works together
appearing as one mass of snow working together to change what once was. Ephesians 4:16 - He makes the
whole body fit together perfectly. As each part does its own special work, it
helps the other parts grow, so that the whole body is healthy and growing and
full of love.
I was never meant to be the only snowflake or the only
member of the body. God’s design is that we would all work together in love, to
help each other grow; to love and encourage each other.
